Mandate
The clients, a lovely, retired couple, wanted a bathroom adapted to their changing needs as they age with reduced mobility.
The pedestal bath was cumbersome and difficult to get in and out of safely, so we changed it to an Italian, curb-free walk-in shower.
Because the clients wanted more room to circulate and to be able to easily access their linen closet, we re-purposed the beautiful oak swinging door (always in the way) to a practical hide-away pocket door. We recommended anti-slip floor tiles, and had the walls re-enforced to accommodate the security grab bars in the shower. We also increased the lighting as well as the storage.
Extra shower wall tile was ordered for future home buyers that may want to remove the grab bars.
The clients are now set up to enjoy their retired years in a secure, uncluttered and easy to maintain bathroom without having to move to an assisted-living residence.
