Design service: Full-service design package, lighting and accessories recommendations, colour palette and finishes, trades recruitment and negotiations and full project management.
Materials used: Stained wood desk, brass and iron floor lamp and desk lighting, Sherwin Williams paint for the ceiling, walls, shelves and inside the built-in, hand-knotted blue rug.
Our mandate: The clients wanted to brighten up the palette and add light while respecting the Craftsman style woodwork and the classic character of the home. They also desired warm burnished metals for the lighting. The office also had to blend in with the living room.
Careful consideration was given to conserve a good portion of the woodwork in its existing dark stain, but we also balanced and brightened the palette with a light-reflecting coat of paint on the ceiling, the walls, the crown moulding, and the inside of the built-in shelves. The wall shelves were painted in a cheerful yet calming blue, and the same blue was repeated in the area rug. The office is uncluttered, brighter and more functional. It also blends seamlessly with the adjoining living room in an open concept. The entire space is now bright and inviting.
